You can deactivate it. All depends which tv you have. Mine has LG assistant,google assistant or Alexa. You can switch off what you don’t want

You can modify the settings on your tv to not switch off when the red button is pressed. The screen will be black. Before you do this you can add the Alexa app to the tv to control things. I know this because I did it on my tv yesterday.
