For the mainboard itself, this is clearly not their first version, judging from the silkscreen having a -V2A marking.
I'm noticing a number of unpopulated tabs as well, so clearly the engineers who designed this had FUN - but also this board is clearly for multiple SKUs!

For the mainboard itself, this is clearly not their first version, judging from the silkscreen having a -V2A marking.
I'm noticing a number of unpopulated tabs as well, so clearly the engineers who designed this had FUN - but also this board is clearly for multiple SKUs!

Turns out the laser module itself is just a standard 12mm/13mm laser "pointer can" module with a heatsink tension screwed. And the base material for the actual diode casing is brass from the weight of it, with an aluminum light path and a spring for the lens.

WHY is this great, you ask? Well, notice that none of the wiring is soldered onto the board, but instead using JST/micro molex plugs, and all the parts are modular, with actual screws and no snap tabs. This is how you do it!

Well well well, this is a glorious surprise! Took that "AC-6926" nebula/starfield galaxy projector apart - turns out what actually killed the starfield generator was likely a missing lens that got warped on a drop *outside*, but look at this beauty of a design!

The straps on my #SuperSoco's #BatteryPack seem to have a design flaw: that rubber/plastic handle isn't reinforced. Installing new ones ain't happening... or is it?
It's not the original, but an 8-strand leather strap + jewelry wire braid worked pretty well.

Seriously, with a few software mods those #PlayStation2 consoles are literal gems - happily playing disks you copied off of your DVD library and onto a SATA SSD, with a #DualShock4 and no pesky physical memory cards. :)
