I think shading practice will help as well in the future- I liked your suggestion and tried it. :)

The next things I want to work on is hair.
Thanks for complimenting the 3d shapes! One thing I try to do is fill a page with shapes/Loomis heads daily. Not too worried about precision, but to help warm up.
