Aha! Hollands huis rond het jaar 1000. Nagebouwd in het themapark Masamuda in Vlaardingen.
Front of a house/farm/dwelling from around the year 1000 from the village of Rotta, now Rotterdam. They were built on a rise above waterlevel but were left after the water rose too far. Terrible places to live in. In the archeological theme park Mesamuda there is a neolithic house and this one, now from the side. For modelling the roof I would use plumbers hemp.

#Archeologie met het boek “Onder Dak”. Veel (te veel) over Romeinen in het boek, iets minder over de middeleeuwen en dan via de Barok snel naar de Moderne Tijd. Met prehistorische paalwoningen, een keltisch dorp en een walburg. Veel foto’s.
Book on 5000 years of living in the Low Countries. “Dak” is Dutch for roof, “onder dak” is living under a roof, so it’s housing history. Very general reading. With some archeology in it, lots on the Romans, and then it races to the modern era This was quite fun to read on houses nearly 5000 years ago, built on stilts. A celtic village. Houses had no floors them, were dark, cold and full of smoke. Has Asterix vibes Now we are getting there. A Walburg, a round fortification found near the North Sea coast from Holland to Flanders. The early medieval oned were built in the Viking era even by the Vikings in the Zeeland area, who used them as a base against England. Which caused Vikings from England to go to Zeeland again. The town of Middelburg in Zeeland is built in the early Walburg.

Today in the mail: a crisp copy of the #dba #wargames rules and a book in the archeology of daily life
A new dba rules book, from Lulu prints in France so no import tax paid. The rules are written by Phil Barker and his wife and read like a computer program, are terrible edited, and make you wonder of those English classes in school really learned you something. On the other hand the rules are pretty solid, and give you army lists as well. The book on the right is a 2025 dutch language book on daily life archeology from the prehistory to the middle ages. So .. pots and pans and stuff like that. Nice pictures as well.

Sint Maarten vandaag. Ook bij protestanten zeer geliefd.
St Martin is a saint who is celebrated in the Netherlands by children that visit homes at this day with a light, sing songs and get a treat.

Lekkende stortbakken opgelost met nieuwe stortbak, en lekkend kraantje opgelost met ringetjes van een paar euro. Klussen is kloten.
Rode ringen, niet rubber maar een soort plastic om kraan op stortbak te zetten en af te dichten. De vorige waren versleten en bijna niet vindbaar. Drie dagen gekost om het op te lossen. Volg mij voor meer oninteressant klusnieuws.

25mm biblicals by Foundry, Ral Partha and Magister Militum. In the back some more 11th century knights to terrorise the countryside of the Lower Rhine/ Frisia area. These are Newline Design minis. Dba rules maximize your army to 12 bases so you can collect a lot of armies. Maybe I add some Hittites as well..Also I must make terrain pieces for the Ancient near East..
