適逢香港《國家安全法》實施五週年，國際特赦組織發表最新研究報告指出，超過八成因該法被定罪的人士屬於錯誤定罪，本就不應被起訴。
此外，國際特赦組織分析了自2020年6月30日以來，香港政府依據國家安全相關法律所針對的255名人士。結果顯示，在被正式起訴的案件中，近九成被告遭法院拒絕保釋，平均在審判前被羈押長達11個月。
國際特赦組織中國事務主任白舒然（Sarah Brooks）表示：「香港《國安法》實施五年後，我們的研究結果令人震驚，證實了我們在2020年對該法提出的擔憂已成現實。香港政府必須停止以『國家安全』為藉口，懲罰合法言論。」
