I grew up in a very close-minded home so I had no idea they were so bad, I was 11 when they came out. Once I met a lot of queer communities online in '12 or so I saw how bad they were and wrote them off forever, got rid of my books/movies shortly after, aaaaand then came out as trans in 2018-ish lol
