I’m tired of distracting myself with screens.
I need love—
I need empathy.
Not flashes in a pan.

Would I were in an alehouse in London

Canned Tuna Love:
I think the cruelest thing
you ever did
was parse out love
like it was on ration.
All is fair once love
turns into war and comes
down on my heart.

You feed your cats
on a varied schedule.

Afraid, you told me
because you didn’t want
them to bug you
at the same time every day.

I used to believe
that love would drag
softly across my body
like a tractor beam
gliding over a corn field.

But looking at you now,
I realize you’re
just the other alien
driving the same ship
as me.
