This is such a critical point: board management is hard, particularly in a crisis, and the mark of a good president is good board management. That requires trust, which is increasingly difficult to cultivate in an era where presidencies turn over every 5 or so years.

It…was a joke.

I think you misread me - I was a tenured full professor and a dean, taught for 20 years. A college degree is great! How it is sold to students and what they expect from it is the problem. On the main, majors don't get you jobs. Critical thinking, writing, and work ethic generally do!

The continued failure to grab the narrative and make corrections that shift us away from simplistic “job ready” framings is a big part of why higher ed is struggling so mightily these days (and why many college administrations keep making very bad decisions about how to fix falling enrollments)

That whole test is *part* of one warmup I do before workouts.

The warmup.

Look, I’m a social scientist. I appreciate methodological transparency and rigor. But…after 15 years of serious policy engagement, I have learned that sometimes the audience that matters only cares about one thing…so you frame the story around that thing.

Semi-error - wasn’t clear if the ball was caught at the wall, everyone read it differently, 3b runner held a beat too long. Also, was a force out at home so no need for a tag. Ball barely got there.
