We had a guest of honor at our neighborhood 4th of July party today:
Our mailman of 31 years who has just retired.
Not a politician. Not an entrepreneur. A guy who served our community for over three decades.

I have entered the age of life where "I was washing my hair, my shoulder twinged, and now I can't lift my arm over my head because of the severe pain."
Getting old sucks.
Still beats the alternative, though.

So... it opened up and rained starting about an hr ago.
Which is 20 hrs *after* the big outdoor awards banquet I was the lead coordinator for.
We had beautiful weather and a great time.
And now I'm am so grateful that the rain hit today instead of yesterday that I'm on the verge of tears of joy.

Getting older has brought one piece of wisdom: I now recognize that the emotional energy to do a task is the real driver behind how quickly I get to it and get it done.
A task with a lot of emotional baggage hanging onto it is a lot harder than those that just need time and concentration.
