I'm from Latvia, and I sometimes do stuff.
Of the many solutions I've seen online to make wprintf properly print chars outside of the local codepage on Windows C programs, only _setmode(_fileno(stdout), _O_U16TEXT) seems to work.
But what no one brings up afterward is that wprintf becomes line unbuffered, and there's just no way to fix that?

What did my phone case mean by this?

Bought a new SD card for my phone, and it came with a Windows System Volume Information directory from July 8, 2024. Thanks, Samsung! (and Microsoft, I guess...)

Guess the Note9 has finally decided it's had enough of me, the case has slightly pried itself apart from the battery. So per a friend's suggestion, I got a Sony Xperia 1V, surprisingly a modern phone without a notch and a headphone jack. Kinda surprised I hadn't heard of these before.

Every time I see someone wearing a jacket by The North Face, I always think it's a staff member of Rīga public transport

It was so broken that I couldn't even uninstall it from the Windows Features section. Running any command under wsl, wslconfig, or ubuntu just yielded mysterious errors. Eventually I tracked the issue down to the "update" from Home to LTSC having wiped LXSS keys from HKLM/HKCU. It works again!

A 2nd Plextor drive has hit my Redumping PC

Triangles are encoded in the blue vertex color channel, apparently. Honestly, I'm not even surprised; the PS2 is notorious for its ridiculously alien-like 3D hardware, so insane stuff like this does crop up from the to time for optimization.

I knew DVD-RAM was a thing, but this is probably the first time I'm seeing one in person.

Oh those classic zero budget Russian translations of the 2000s...

Just on another stroll looking for cool and unique undumped discs for the Redump project, and I casually stumble upon the source code for FIFA 96

After a good while of finding quite literally nothing, not even random people discussing it as a distant memory or anything of the sort, this was quite the surprise.
@cvolton.bsky.social joined in and found a 1993 recording of Swiss TV Romandy which has Floc used as an interlude after a longer show.

The video had less than 200 views, and even more interestingly, the original composer for the international version, Mark Bradley, is in the comments section!

Eventually I found the original full French title was likely Floc le Petit Flocon because I searched up the animator Ferran Gallart and found his YouTube channel where the French intro was shown in a demo reel/portfolio. This information alone didn't take me anywhere further just yet though.

How's so-obscure-it-might-as-well-be-lost media for ya?
Growing up, I had this DVD of a show called Floc which was translated to Estonian (Pipp?), Latvian (Ūdens stāsts), Lithuanian (Sniegius), and Russian (Флок). (Estonian title might be wrong, that's just what's sung in the intro in place of Floc)

Why can I add multiple DHCP servers in one instance on Windows Server, but ADUC is limited to one domain per instance?

There is no digital release of the Hey Man Nice Shot (Big Mac Mix) which happens to be my favorite version of the song, so I may have put in a bit too much effort into cleaning up and creating a "proper" album cover from a scan of the single CD booklet cover for the FLAC

Rewatching some good old Mindcrack videos, and look who I see in the comments from 12 years ago.
