Yeah one of the few times I’ve run Wordpress sites it was hit by exploiters twice within a few months, despite having automatic updates turned on. This was some years ago.

For better or for worse more 40% of websites in the world use Wordpress (according to the site below). I don’t really get why, it’s pretty awful in my (fairly limited) experience!

Probably a lot of those are AI generated spam though.

The Guardian article about this suggests that this is at least partly driven by ZipCar having to pay the £18 a day congestion charge from next year for their “flex” cars. I suspect that’s not the full story but seems quite possibly the straw that broke the camel’s back.

This is the sort of thing the mayor should encourage/part fund/run.

Yeah this is really bad. We’ve managed not to own a car due to Zipcar, despite them making it harder when they shrunk the zip zone. The only competitor is the enterprise car club which is nowhere near as convenient or available (or cheap).

The reason it’s a proposal is more to do with uk redundancy law than anything else, this requires a “consultation” period as a matter of process over a certain number of redundancies. I expect this is a foregone conclusion.

This is really annoying. A while ago the shrunk the zone so we weren’t in it anymore which stopped us using it much but I used to use it every week or so when our daughter was born a couple of years ago. It was invaluable and I really hope someone else can start a service.

Normally BBC radio topical comedy records on Thursday evening (though is obviously written a bit before that!)

There’s even worse! Maybe on the same site?

They have sadly changed the headline, here it is for posterity.

Absolutely agree! Lots of people, especially those that grew up in London have complicated backgrounds that can’t be boiled down to simple classes - and that’s a good thing.

Mick Lynch and Dianne Abbot both grew up fairly nearby in Paddington at roughly the same time. Not sure what class you’d consider them, or if it matters

It’s amazing how much Notting Hill has changed - my parents bought their house for about £20k in the early 70s and now it’s worth millions. Crazy.

Notting Hill was nothing like it is now in the late 60s when he went to school there. This would have been a fairly normal area then, that had recently had the race riots (a mile or so away). I know nothing about Benn and his class, but I know the area has massively changed (as I grew up there).
