I also think alot of writers add characters for the sake of adding characters for one reason or another, but the story itself would just be better off with out them, which leads to the characters being shallow and stuck in the the gender roles because they dont serve much purpose to the plot.

THANK YOU! I always hated the "Oh, this writer just can't write women well." If they can write the male characters to be fun and interesting, they can write female characters to be fun and interesting too and just choose not to.
