EDF Energy Transition
@edfenergyex.bsky.social
Environmental Defense Fund's Energy Transition team. Working to bend the curve on global GHG emissions from fossil fuel production and use by 2030, cleanly + equitably.
The U.S. must build more transmission to power a cleaner future — and projects have a higher chance of succeeding when communities are partners.

Our new report with @cleanaircatf.bsky.social shows early engagement, local priorities & flexible benefits are key 👉https://www.edf.org/Z6Hm

This month marks 10 years since the largest natural gas leak in U.S. history.

The Aliso Canyon leak pumped out ~100,000 tons of methane, and brought attention to a broader methane problem across the oil & gas supply chain.

So what's changed since? ➡️ www.edf.org/Z6HN

TODAY: @imohq.bsky.social's delay of the #NetZeroFramework is a setback for global climate progress.

A strong, science-based plan to cut shipping emissions is within reach — but only if nations act with urgency to deliver fair, effective rules in 2026. ⚓🌍 www.edf.org/Z6Hc

The only acceptable answer here is 'very seriously'! 👀

From H2 View's 'question of the day' yesterday. Glad to see such a timely issue being polled. More here on why it's critical that hydrogen standards and policies consider leakage of H2 itself. www.edf.org/Z6rv

🛰️ New insights from @methanesat.bsky.social data show oil and gas methane intensity in New Mexico is less than half that of Texas in the Permian Basin — corresponding with strong state standards under @govmlg.bsky.social.

Methane pollution is fueling the climate crisis and harming communities.

The Trump EPA's unlawful delay of commonsense protections means more wasted gas, polluted air and climate damage. @envdefensefund.bsky.social & allies are fighting back. www.edf.org/Z6r8

🚢 @imohq.bsky.social's Framework sets a path to cut shipping emissions, scale clean fuels, and support a just transition.

As EDF's Natacha Stamatiou writes, its success depends on turning ambition into action.

Hydrogen is a hopeful contender in the race to find clean energy solutions -- and for good reason.

But as investments continue to pour into hydrogen energy development, H2 emissions in the real world have barely been measured. Until now. www.edf.org/Z6Kj

EDF's Adam Peltz lays out the stakes in this powerful @npr.org story on the vast number of U.S. orphan oil & gas wells polluting our air, land & water.

Plugging them is urgent — and preventable by holding industry accountable for its cleanup obligations. www.npr.org/2025/07/07/n...
