According to the AI, it seems that other scientific research domains (genetic profiling, precision medicine, etc) have advanced to a point where long-read technologies can be more fully utilized.

PacBio’s profitability focus + market trends could give portfolios a nice return in the future. ⏱️

Basically, PacBio could begin to capitalize on technology they’ve developed as advanced applications and use cases come into scope.

In summary, short-read technologies struggle to meet the requirements of more complex research and clinical studies.

Sometimes you need the hemi, not the EV.

Now, here’s the most interesting piece, because so what?

The company leadership is working hard to become profitable it seems, but what is the actual market for PacBio products?

Why is their “stuff” valuable?

“Consumables are the single-use materials and kits essential for running sequencing experiments on PacBio’s instruments.”

Interesting…so with the release of their long-read sequencing machines, they are expanding their reach with customers.

Sounds promising…

Existing and prospective shareholders should be comforted by internal decision making to reduce operational overhead, debt management, the launch of new flagship products, and releasing “consumables.”

I had to ask the AI what consummables are - here’s the gist…

The price is down bad, revenue for Q3 2024 was less than expected, and company is in debt despite sitting on $500m in cash reserves.

How much debt? Nearly a _illion with a B.

But…sign of life and prosperity ahead.

But first, why PacBio? It’s a struggling biotech company in a “niche” market making long-read sequencing machines.

True, but there is potential for high reward beyond simply looking at this…not gorgeous chart…

Bourbon, specifically. Penelope Architect was my most recent pick up.
