It's a lovely sunny day!
If you're out for a walk, please take some photos of memorial benches and add them to openbenches.org

We're *very* close to thirty-nine *thousand* benches mapped 😃

Not available in the shops, but this uses LoRaWAN to broadcast tree health information.

Would love something like this in my garden.

Fair play, there are some good sceptical takes on AI here.

Good to have some reality injected into the conversation.

There are some good talks at #AIforTheRestOfUs but they're often undermined by crappy AI illustrations.

I've written about why people don't care about the quality of what they create or consume.

I'm in awe at Hannah Foxwell's ability to create diverse and inclusive events. Take so much work, but makes for a much better conference.

I like bringing my own (eInk) namebadge to conferences.

But which QR code do you think is more dangerous to scan?

The thing about AI conferences is that the BPP (Buzzwords Per Poster) is not demonstrably higher than any other conference.

Just had this *amazing* experience while on hold to a call centre.
I hung up and redialled so I could capture it in all its synthetic glory.

I bloody love the lyric notes on Genius.

I emailed the Daily Express regarding their factually inaccurate article about Patricia Routledge.
I included as much evidence as I could that the quotes were fake.
This was their response.

We were told that nuclear power would be "too cheap to meter".

This turned out not to be true. It is renewables which are driving domestic energy prices down to zero.

Free electricity thanks to all the wind and solar!

Thought about mining some crypto but decided instead to bake a cake.

A lot more profitable and tasty!

Anyway, if you join Octopus with my link we both get £50.

Ooooooh! Look what's coming to @openbenches.org

Huge thanks to Pieter for all the hard work importing the data.

Now we just have to match ~38,000 benches to their OpenStreetMap counterpart 😅

Hey kids! Write to newspapers to let them know if they got their facts wrong.
It sometimes works!

Getting ready for my talk at #EuroBSDCon - looks like I have space for a few more laptop stickers 😄

I *finally* have a response to my GDPR request to BlueSky for my Direct Messages.

Took them nearly 9 weeks to answer my query, with *lots* of chasing emails.

So, here's the question. I haven't gone through age verification. Are BSky breaching the Online Safety Act by sending me this?
September 25, 2025 at 9:10 AM
Still no data yet from BlueSky. In the meantime, someone else has sent me a DM which I cannot read - and I have no ability to turn of DMs.

If you have tried to message me, please use edent.tel instead.

I can't believe BSky has no ability to export DMs. Is #ATProto really that lashed together?
