For Day 3: First Impressions, here is Edelgard and Bernadetta (can be romantic and platonic) bonding while painting.
Sunlight spills through the curtains, illuminating the vibrant green leaves of the plant at the center of the room. Blooms of scarlet and violet adorn the plant like jewels. Edelgard cherishes these moments of peace and quiet, when she and Bernadetta are not emperor and advisor but two women who can enjoy each other's company while engaging in a shared hobby. Edelgard removes her paintbrush from her canvas for a moment to look across the room at Bernadetta. She is calm yet focused, her hand moving across the canvas in graceful, fluid strokes. Ever since Bernadetta took on the role as an advisor to Edelgard at the end of the war, she seems much calmer. She has her moments of panicking when particularly stressed, but less often than she used to, and she recovers more quickly. She is also more comfortable speaking her mind. Very different from the timid, reclusive girl she met in their youth. Bernadetta's hand stops moving and retreats from the canvas. She must have sensed Edelgard looking at her. With an unusual sense of bashfulness, Edelgard averts her gaze. "Um, is something wrong?" Bernadetta asks. She sounds more concerned than panicked as she would have in the past. "Not at all," Edelgard says warmly as she looks back at Bernadetta. "I was just thinking about how much you've grown since we first met." "Grown?" "Yes, you seem much more confident around people. You offer valuable insight. I cannot thank you enough for your contributions." "Oh, that's good!" Bernadetta beams. "Though really, I have you to thank for that." Edelgard raises an eyebrow. "Me?" "Yeah! You're one of the first people to really...value my ideas and ask my opinion on things. It makes me feel important." Bernadetta smiles and Edelgard can't help but feel her lips curve upward in the same manner. "You are important, Bernadetta. Not just to me or for your contributions to the Empire, but as a wonderful person. I hope you know that," Edelgard says sincerely. She too has grown thanks to Bernadetta. Telling people her feelings used to terrify her. But seeing how much being vulnerable with Bernadetta strengthened their professional and personal relationship gave Edelgard the courage to more freely express her gratitude for others. After a moment of comfortable silence, Bernadetta asks, "So…..grown like this flower?" She seems pleased at the idea of being similar to a healthy, beautiful flower. Edelgard looks at her fondly and nods. "Yes, just like that."

For Day 2: Promise/Devotion, here is some Edelshez cuteness.
Shez never thought of herself as an especially devoted person. Like most mercenaries, she was more concerned with getting coin from her jobs than what or for whom she was fighting. While she certainly valued her friends and allies, she ultimately had no particular loyalty to a person or a cause. Find an employment opportunity, get the job done, collect the coin, rinse and repeat. It became a familiar cycle for her. That all changed when she was hired by Edelgard. Shez got far more than she bargained for in more ways than one. Not only did the emperor have ambitious goals, but she valued viewpoints that differed from her own. Coming from a commoner background turned out to be an asset, not a drawback as Shez may have expected. Sure, Edelgard and Hubert initially didn't trust Shez due to her mysterious powers. Knowing what she knows now about the shadowy slithery villains, she can't blame them. Protecting Edelgard from the assassination attempt, something she did with no hesitation, gave her the chance to prove her trustworthiness. Later she realized saving Edelgard was about more than just her duty to guard her employer. She had...feelings she had never experienced before. Whenever they were apart, Shez longed for her company, wondered what she was doing. Being close to her made her heart race. Shez thought the feelings may dissipate with time, but they only grew stronger. What emotion could possibly be making her experience such things? Love. The feeling was and still is love. She was over the moon when she found out Edelgard felt the same way. Transitioning into a romantic relationship-holding hands during picnics, stealing kisses between meetings-felt so natural. “Hey you," Shez says as she approaches Edelgard from behind her desk and wraps her into a tight hug. "Hello to you as well." The words sound formal and noble, but there is a hint of warm mirth in Edelgard's voice that Shez cherishes. "You're just going to say that without even looking at me?" Shez pouts playfully. As predicted, Edelgard stands up and faces Shez. Even as she stands on her toes, Shez bends down slightly so she can plant a gentle kiss on her lips. “Is that better?" Edelgard's lavender eyes twinkle and her lips curve into a smile. The same joyful expression she displayed when Shez gave her the merc whistle. Shez kisses her forehead and winks. "You know it." With the war over and Shez's life as a mercenary behind her, she can now confidently say she is a devoted person. Devoted to creating a better future world with Edelgard and to Edelgard herself.
