Lefties could’ve been completely unaware of him and he still would’ve driven a wedge in this country. What he did was tell conservatives who/what the democrats are, creating a boogeyman. I find many conservatives’ view of dems has been painted by 3rd/4th hand accounts from people like RL.

Yes Ichiro had an outlier skill. But it’s not really good to try to emulate an outlier like that. Baseball players always play to their own skill set and that’s a beautiful thing. I think it’s cool that Ichiro provided value in a unique way, but baseball has not changed in that direction.
