18F represented a hopeful view of government, asking how gov could better serve the public. It wrestled with hard questions & shared what it learned for the world to see. Its projects, research, methodologies were open source. It is was as rigorous as it was idealistic.

If you worked for 18F and got fired, Group together to start a consulting company.

It’s just a matter of time before DOGE needs you to fix the mess they inevitably create.

They will have to hire your company as a contractor to fix it. But on your terms.

I’m happy to invest and/or help

Great write up by @jeremiak.bsky.social and @bystellayu.bsky.social about the challenges of California’s FPPC (Fair Political Practices Commission).

Summary: CA has a large backlog of campaign violations that need a proper investigation and resolution.
A thread on some of my work I'm proud of:

For months, @jeremiak.bsky.social and I looked into California's campaign watchdog agency, which has a history of backlogs. Some cases took years to conclude, during which politicians in question had left office or won an election.
