One of the (many) great things in having a lab off campus is that we can walk to The Imperial Hotel in Erskineville (Erko) made famous in Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

A week ago I had the privilege of visiting the Arlington National Cemetery. It’s difficult to comprehend how far the US government has strayed from these aspirations in the last 100 days.

Here are the records of fever, influenza-like illness (ILI), acute respiratory infection (ARI), and unspecified pneumonia (PUE) in Wuhan, 1 Oct - 10 Dec 2019, from 76,253 records of 233 health facilities, Wuhan. Very clear.

Remarkable progress. And one of the key figures in this was Tony Fauci. Yet over on X the same old conspiracy lies about him and us are being told.

Got it, thanks. If this what they are basing their intelligence on then they are not very smart. A paper describing this work was submitting in 2018.

An amazing, yet disturbing, gift from @julienmelade.bsky.social. I hate to say it but the soap smells far better than expected.

Not all bats carry lots of RNA viruses. Example being the wonderful, endangered and isolated Christmas Island Flying Fox. Study led by @susanaortizb.bsky.social and Karrie Rose and Jane Hall from The Australian Registry of Wildlife Health (Taronga Zoo, Sydney): www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Here's the tree from the paper. Sorry it is low res. Lineage 4 at the bottom. RaTG13 (Ra4991) is there but NO SARS-CoV-2 precursor. Remember, this was from 2018 so there was no need to hide anything. SARS-CoV-2 wasn't there because they didn't have it.
February 27, 2025 at 8:32 PM
More evidence that there were no intermediates between the early A and B lineages of SARS-CoV-2. academic.oup.com/ve/advance-a... This can also be seen in an unpublished paper on Wuhan sequences from Jan 2020 (A=S, B=L...I think).

Grindelwald is amazing...the Eiger towers over you. That's Mona Vale beach in the Sydney northern beaches. The best beach up here is Whale Beach. See pics.

Absolutely. Last time I saw snow and mountains was in Grindelwald in Jan 2020…another magical place. Different vibe down here - our view yesterday.

Intelligence community report, June 2023:

“… no indication that the WIV’s pre-pandemic research holdings included SARS-CoV-2 or a close progenitor…”

Facts matter.

Drives me insane! Almost every single ABC reporter/announcer gets it wrong. Mind you, it did lead to one of the best cartoons of recent years.

Wow! I look forward to seeing a seasonal wind. Slightly different weather here yesterday.

And this was also clear from an unpublished paper from 2018 which showed that the closest virus to SC2 at the WIV was RaTG13 (Ra4991). As this study was prior to the pandemic there was no reason to hide anything. But the progenitor of SC2 was not there because they never had it. End of.

Thanks to the organisers of the CSHL conference (pandemic coronaviruses) on Awaji Island for hosting it in the hotel used by England's 2002 World Cup squad. I'd forgotten that Darius Vassell was in the squad. www.theguardian.com/football/200...
