I think the next big thing might be the blending of technology and biology. It's hard to predict what will be the most popular use cases, but I think it will extend well beyond the pure medical applications.

True, power users will mostly do what you do.

Also bear in mind strong security uses multiple layers of defense, you don't just rely on one solution.

Another option (for browsing) would be using Tor, which does hide metadata.

I am actually not a fan of Browsers overriding DNS settings, it should be responsibility of the OS. It doesn't make much sense for the OS using one DNS config and an individual app another, it makes things just more confusing.

For instance Microsoft Edge doesn't enable DoH by default (yet), and the average Windows user likely doesn't know what it is. Browser is also not the only application that connect to the internet.

You're never to old to learn 🥲

Not to mention older versions of TLS. If you establish connection using TLS 1.0 or 1.1 you *think* you are safe, but actually you're not.

The other 50% is explaining that snoops don't care about encrypted contents if they manage to collect the metadata.
December 20, 2024 at 12:11 AM
Your metadata is still exposed using HTTPS only.
Using HTTPS doesn't encrypt your DNS queries persé.
If you use HTTPS and I could observe your network traffic I'd still be able to get to know you better than your mom does.

Snowden sacrifised his future to let the American public know that they are spied upon by their own government, that's not criminal behavior, that's a service to the public.

Not the sharpest tool in the shed, eh 🥲

If he hadn't moved they would've put him in an orange suit in a high max prison. If that's not "forcing" it's at least a serious threat.

It can be useful to gather inspiration but I can't have it in my IDE, it's like when driving and your passenger is constantly giving tips you didn't ask for;

EITHER YOU DRIVE OR I DRIVE

Debian 13 will do this by default!

Ppl claiming they're Full Stack is like a doctor claiming he's a heart surgeon, a psychiatrist, a firefighter and cancer specialist at once. Just not realistic.
December 18, 2024 at 6:52 PM
I think you made the concept quite clear to me now, thank you so much.
December 15, 2024 at 2:43 AM
No offense taken, I know what I do (not) know ;).

Having everything double is better for redundancy, unless you like the stress when your single device breaks down mid action.
December 15, 2024 at 2:18 AM
I wonder what your risk model is :-) The seed shouldn't be stored in plain-text, but if it's encrypted and password protected, I would say that's already quite secure.

I am not saying people shouldn't use HWs, I am just saying I find it unpractical devices (at least the few I've used).
December 8, 2024 at 1:47 PM
I don't support using cryptocurrencies on just any device, and emphasize your advice to invest some effort in securing your daily drivers and network. I always recommend having 2 of both (2 phones, 2 laptops), which shouldn't be a big deal for someone with thousands of dollars in crypto.
December 8, 2024 at 1:30 PM
Thanks for the clarification! I hadn't looked at it from the signing perspective. But I still don't like HW wallets. I think more general 2FA solutions could be a good alternative (I heard the guys of thorchain are working on something like that).
December 8, 2024 at 1:23 PM

I'd say, make sure you have a *true* cold wallet 🥶 for large sums that you don't immediately touch, and a dedicated computer for your hot wallet and crypto activities.

Then you might have a third spending wallet on your main computer/phone, that you can top up periodically.

To be frank, I don't like Hardware Wallets. I have a Trezor and it doesn't work (well) with my system. In my opinion it is safer in the long term to use generally available commodity hardware like usb sticks.
