Having thunderbolt 5 was definitely a factor for me in upgrading also but I went for one terabyte b/c I haven’t seen any affordable thunderbolt 5 drives yet & I just want to make sure I get the speeds from the start. I’m upgrading from a M1 MacBook Pro Max so I’m used to 5 to 6000

Of course, for $300 or so you can get a 27 Dell ultra display or similar models from others. All of a sudden you got a 27 inch equivalent of the old iMac at a fraction of the price. Even w/ studio display, you’re in the same ballpark. As others have noted, best Apple value in years

I bought the regular M4 mini and then just swapped it for the pro because it turns out the read/write speeds on the pro are way faster. On the order of 6000 versus 3000. Both screaming fast speeds compared with the old days but for a few hundred dollars more, well worth it IMHO
