prettied up the terrain some by increasing the deformation texture resolution and applying a 2.5px blur to it, so i can keep procrastinating fixing the wheels spinning backwards #godot #indiedev

Making a godot plugin to simulate physics in the editor to help place objects in the scenes in a more natural fashion

then i found a plugin someone made for stencil shadows, and they had made the code for extruding the mesh properly on cpu rather than shader, and jury-rigged a stencil test to make the shadows work properly, only it baked the extrusion at the start of the frame
i edited to make it do it every frame

now that godot 4 is getting a real stencil buffer, i've been reminiscing about the shadow volume experimentation i've played with
just using a displacement shader and hoping for the best looked pretty terrible, but it worked for simpler meshes and it worked *fast*

you can select the "upload movie" thingie right of upload image left of gif and upload the gif that way, i think bluesky still does convert it to a video file of some description but then you don't have to do it yourself

on the game i worked on, we just had the cones be an area3d and once they detected the player (or any other vehicle) inside them they get thrown away from them using tweens, not even using rigidbodies
looks very cartoony but the results felt very nice
