Jake Richardson and Alissa Davis met day 1 of orientation. They are planning to marry in June at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill before about 200 guests (bridesmaid dresses Carolina blue) and snag a quick Hawaiian honeymoon before residency. Our match rate is 100 y'all.

Last week the @aamc.org did a terrific feature on older medical students with lengthy resumes. We have our own. This holiday, we're thankful for American second acts, plan B's, following passions, courses reversed, old dogs learning new tricks and roads less traveled.

Our own Jon Sweetin this month snagged two gold 🏅🏅and two bronze medals at the North, Central American and Caribbean Masters Track & Field Championship, #NCCMA2025. He threw hammer, discus, weight and shot put. At 50, it was his first gold medal in int'l competition. 🙌

Jackson Poulnott got to perform a punch biopsy and suture it under the supervision of Dr. Michael Lincoln at his preceptorship this month in Anson Co. “I have worked with [him] since ’19, and our plan is for me to return home and inherit the clinic. ... This is the community that helped raise me.”

Students from Camp Schreiber made the trip from Wilmington at the invitation of Brody Scholar Hailey Lewis (M2) for a field day that included sim lab exercises, med ed, and a visit to the East Care helipad. Lots of M2s helped. Loved having you Schreibers!

For his preceptorship, Tim Patron worked under Dr. David Gilbert last week at AccessMedicine in Williamston, a majority-minority city of about 5,000 where 3 in 10 are on Medicaid or Medicare. Tim wants to be a Family Medicine physician.
