This is one of a pair of barred owls that have been appearing every evening in my large back yard. They take turns sitting atop the remnants of an old tree from which they can scan a couple acres of lawn for their supper. Much easier than in the pastures all around the place.

In 2011, I booked a tour in the Okefenokee Swamp. It was during a severe drought, and the only water was in the canals, meaning all the gators were packed into maybe 1% of their normal range there.
I didn't know this until I got there, nor did I know it was a canoe tour. I'm glad I hadn't seen this.

It wouldn't let me add these.

A few lightning captures from a couple storms this past week. The first was on Earth/my daughter's birth...day, and then the next night. In both cases, the storms were at least 30 miles away, so I felt pretty safe on my hilltop vantage point.

Hearing the Felon and his flunkies insisting that all is well always makes me picture this classic Frank Drebin scene.

Well, no shit we want to destroy his influence, or did/does he think all the protests and town hall roastings were...
A. Fake news?
B. Something he dreamed?
C. All being done by paid un-American freedom hating, bleeding heart leftist empaths who use the wrong toilets and hate all-star wrestling?

Some panoramas of a very active thunderstorm that was moving at right angles and about 50 miles away last night.

Scissortailed flycatchers are among the most amazing birds to watch in-flight. Their incredible tails and their "conversations" (if you're lucky enough to be close enough to hear them), make them simply mesmerizing.
This pair raised a brood in 2022, but the next year something destroyed the nest. 😢

These are from a storm last spring. They are all several second exposures to catch multiple bolts.

Imagine you are on a plane flying across the Pacific and the pilot suddenly announces that you won't be able to make it across unless you can somehow lighten the plane by 20,000 pounds. Then Musk stands up and announces he can save the day and heads for the cockpit.

Some more brain vacations from the madness. These are from the aurora display from May 10th of last year. It was by far the most amazing display I had ever seen up to that point, but I never imagined there'd be another at least as impressive five months later.

Some more old pics. These are from a ride on a KC-135 to meet and refuel the USAF Thunderbirds on their way to Tinker AFB

I have been so overwhelmed by the Nazi selling us out to Russia right after losing one of my best friends that I have become numb, and with the weather too cold to get out with a camera much, it's been hard to shake it off.
Still, looking back at some of my favorite shots is a nice respite.

This is a very small version of Comet Neowise with a thunderstorm trying to photobomb it.
Not recent, obviously.
