We need laws that make companies provide software & support for the full lifetime of their products.
Mathieu Rama, Senior Programme Manager at ECOS, said: "Microsoft hitting the snooze button by offering an extra year of Windows 10 updates to a limited group of consumers should not put us back to sleep. We need real solutions: stronger rules on software obsolescence to stop wasting precious resources - and at least fifteen years of security updates for all digital products."

The EU has an important role to play in making data centres more sustainable in Europe.

But it needs a more coherent strategy on data centres to make the most out of its existing policies and introduce more ambitious measures where needed.

Unsure about recycling claims and symbols used on #plastic packaging? You're not alone.

A new poll (commissioned by @clientearth.bsky.social) shows that many European consumers believe products with recycling logos will actually be recycled if properly disposed of.

But this simply isn't accurate.

🚨 The EU has just classified fossil-based #hydrogen projects using #CCS as ‘low-carbon’.

However, the chosen definition is based on estimated #methane emission values that are too low, which will lock Europe into continued fossil fuel use.

Anastasia Tsougka of ECOS said: "This definition of 'low-carbon' hydrogen is based on unrealistically low methane emission values that don't reflect the reality on the ground. By giving it an advantage, the European Commission has created an uneven playing field for renewable hydrogen - the only kind with near-zero emissions. Low-carbon cannot deliver what no-carbon can, and it shouldn't get a free pass to pollute. This will only lock Europe into fossil fuel use and jeopardise climate goals."

There's a cleaner solution for every building. There are already established technologies that can help to clean up heating - and they're improving every year. Let's use them!

A lot of problems, with ONE solution: decarbonisation!

Decarbonising heating and cooling will address greenhouse gas emissions, consumer costs, energy poverty, indoor air pollution, and energy security — all at once.

We could be doing this faster.
