It's #WorldStandardsDay! Today we celebrate the collaborative efforts of thousands of experts worldwide who develop #standards.

A lack of #representation of diverse and relevant expertise from civil society organisations risks the adoption of #standards which may not be fit for purpose.

It's #InternationalEwasteDay & @microsoft.com is making up to 400 million computers obsolete.

From today👇

💻 No more #Windows10 automatic support for all PCs
🗑️ #ewaste could jump by 700 million kg

We need laws that make companies provide software & support for the full lifetime of their products.

The EU has an important role to play in making data centres more sustainable in Europe.

But it needs a more coherent strategy on data centres to make the most out of its existing policies and introduce more ambitious measures where needed.
September 16, 2025 at 8:00 AM
There is a better way! 🤩

Data centres are essential infrastructure, but instead of allowing computational excess, we need laws that go further than efficiency, prioritising sufficiency, circularity, and transparency.

Data centres have big environmental impacts, and with #AI driving growth, they’re rising 🤖

Unsure about recycling claims and symbols used on #plastic packaging? You're not alone.

A new poll (commissioned by @clientearth.bsky.social) shows that many European consumers believe products with recycling logos will actually be recycled if properly disposed of.

But this simply isn't accurate.

🚨 The EU has just classified fossil-based #hydrogen projects using #CCS as ‘low-carbon’.

However, the chosen definition is based on estimated #methane emission values that are too low, which will lock Europe into continued fossil fuel use.

✅ We have the technology

Old, new, big, small, house, apartment, office — there’s a cleaner solution for every building!

✅ We have the tools

The EU has a toolbox of policy options to support the adoption of cleaner technologies — but it needs to make the most of them.

A lot of problems, with ONE solution: decarbonisation!

Decarbonising heating and cooling will address greenhouse gas emissions, consumer costs, energy poverty, indoor air pollution, and energy security — all at once.

We could be doing this faster.
March 13, 2025 at 8:27 AM
Heating and cooling buildings requires a lot of energy.

Around half of all the energy we consume in the EU goes towards it — and most of that is still from polluting fossil fuels 😷

The EU has all it needs to change this. How? 🧵👇
