Elders seem to be flowering well this year, along with Hawthorn (seems like another bumper year for the latter).

A lovely walk through oak woodland at @wtscotsocial.bsky.social Glen Finglas reserve today. Highlights Great Spotted Woodpecker, singing Chaffinch & Great Tit, Nuthatch, Juniper & an incredible array of bryophytes (which I really need to start learning!) 🌿🐦‍⬛

Fantastic day at Bird Race today. We recorded 66 species, 22 of which were new for the year for me - bringing my 2025 species total for birds to 79. Highlights included two great views of Sparrowhawk, hundreds of Lapwing, and a huge flock of Fieldfare - my first this winter! 🦅🪿🐦‍⬛🦆🌳 📍East Lothian

We were watching some yellow-throated martens when I looked to my left and a ‼️Sun Bear ‼️🌞🐻 was walking towards us!!! We didn’t approach him, we stayed where we were and watched him quietly so we didn’t disturb him. Such an incredible sighting.📍Kaeng Krachan National Park, Thailand

Recent Beaver (Castor fiber) foraging activity spotted on our lunchtime walk 🦫🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Beavers generally forage within 10m of the water’s edge. They don’t hibernate, but do reduce their activity levels over winter, when they store food (like woody vegetation) in an underwater cache in their lodge. 🪵

Sea potato, Echinocardium cordatum. 💙 This funky little urchin lives in a sand burrow, feeding on dead plants and animals with its tube feet (each to their own). Life on Earth is so wildly diverse 🙌🏼 🌈 🌍 - 📍Isle of Bute, Scotland
