At the University of Queensland, studying reproductive phenology in rainforest trees.
A soggy 7 days teaching in the subtropics. I may have gone a bit off the rails in my demonstration of the paradise rifle bird mating dance. But I can sleep soundly knowing that at least one person now knows how to ID a tree species they’ll probably never see again 😅. #ecologyislyf

It was super exciting to see the progress that @ecologyella.bsky.social has made in revealing the reproductive timing of Australian rainforest trees! Another beautiful and engaging presentation.

some prelim but super exciting results from the PhD, reppin the subtropics at the @iccb2025.bsky.social

So many people have made this poster possible, key to that is Bill McDonald who has been monitoring rainforest tree flowering and fruiting for many years and @john-m-dwyer.bsky.social

Spent the last few days in World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park recensusing an old forest plot with @ecologyella.bsky.social, @lilydun.bsky.social and the indomitable Bill McDonald. Pictured are two of our old-growth rainforest giants - the strangler fig and purple cherry.

It’s always a pleasure to do fieldwork in the #rainforest, but the scrub itch can take a hike #itchingfordays

I work with some great and supportive peeps! #RainforestsRock
An outstanding talk by @ecologyella.bsky.social on the reproductive strategies of subtropical rainforest trees. @jradford-smith.bsky.social and I were so blown away that we forgot to take a photo until the end. #ESAus2024

A Functional Basis for the Assembly of Australian Subtropical Rainforest Tree Communities
We surveyed rainforest tree communities across the Australian subtropics (spanning 600 to 2500 mm rainfall year−1) and measured functional traits on 285 (91%) of all recorded species. Hydraulic strat....
