60-70% of people want universal healthcare. So do it: Put the market on the SUPPLY side & a single-payer on the DEMAND side. Democrats: Change! Talk about both social AND market principles! You will win big!
Any intellectual arguments? Tell 'em to go... look at this:

Republicans voted against lefty DEI & restrictions on free speech, for a guy who cancels anyone opposing him.

Republicans voted against lefty weak socialism, for a guy who's now recreating Chinese communist "state capitalism." According to the Wall St. Journal, no less:

Inroads by China to old allies risks their adoption of Chinese computer & telecoms specs and protocols. This could increase the military threat against the U.S.

60-70% want universal healthcare. This video shows how: put market on SUPPLY side & single-payer on DEMAND side. If Dems learn to talk both social AND market principles, they will win BIG! Dem candidates should watch the full playlist, "New Addition to Economics."

This video justifies universal healthcare. It is number 8 in a series that uses a flowchart cartoon to explain why economics must be expanded to include non-market organization. This is the key to future social policy.

Democrats should state loud and clear that as soon as there is another Democratic president, the administration will reinstate all of the honest workers, with back pay.

We can reverse a lot of this crap four years from now. Less reclaimable: 1. The pain & suffering. 2. US's claim to revere its Constitution. 3. Foreign allies' loss of trust in US' obligations, competence & foresight.

Theory of institutions extends into general theory of non-market organization that has its own efficiency & innovation. Supports cooperation & reciprocity (instead of competition) if rules are simple & easy to understand. Market & non-market organization must co-exist www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0hm...

Brad @delong.bsky.social is a great teacher & writer. Slouching Towards Utopia is an outstanding economic & political history of the last 150 yrs., put in terms of markets vs. social institutions (epitomized as Hayek vs. K. Polanyi) -- and why we need both. Entertaining & recommended to everyone.

The GOP preached two Reagan falsehoods: 1. Unregulated capitalism makes fastest growth, & it works for everybody. 2. Government can get smaller.

These MUST crash into reality. The GOP self-contradiction got wider and wider until a conman was able to walk into the breach.

"Tokyo Story" is usually voted in the world cinema top of the list. Nothing out of the ordinary happens but by the end, the world has moved underneath all the characters, and it lasts for the rest of your life. Later Ozu style is formal & unique. No bombast or melodrama.

Finnegans Wake: Joyce inverts Dante's mystical descent to hell, into the upwelling collective conscious in the nighttime dream of a man with a daytime problem. Guilt & mystery. Deepest novel, literally & figuratively. Advanced radical critique of modernity & language. And very humorous!
