Eastbourne Eco Action Network CIC - facilitating cross-community collaboration to deliver a carbon-neutral Eastbourne by 2030. www.ecoactioneb.co.uk
At the recent #Eastbourne Farmers Market in November, our volunteers made another big delivery, using our e-cargo bike, to local community fridges, of organic veggies kindly donated by some market stallholders. Using #zerocarbon transport to reduce #foodinsecurity. Win-win?
November 12, 2025 at 11:10 AM
Our e-cargo bike will be available once more to deliver any fresh organic local food donated by stallholders at tomorrow’s Eastbourne Farmers Market to local community fridges. As weather is forecast to be very windy, market will be held inside the Towner Gallery. See you there!

How did the 👪👩‍👧👨‍👨‍👦‍👦👨‍👨‍👦audience get to Airbourne in 2025?
With an estimated CO2e footprint of between 3,500 & 4,000 tonnes.

Here is our report ecoactioneb.co.uk/airbournes-c...

We’ve just bought our first e-cargo bike! It’s an ex-Zedify trike. Our glamorous director, Jill, is showing it off. We think it’s the first ever community-owned cargo bike in #Eastbourne. We’ll use it to move donated surplus food to community larders. We’re buying another cargo bike next week!

Let's compare @eastbournebc.bsky.social with the data from neigbouring councils. From @climateemergencyuk.bsky.social ... it's not looking good.

Explanation by @eastsussexcc.bsky.social about 30 new Bus Priority lights " ..allows buses to make a 'hurry call' which makes the traffic light change to green more quickly. Any bus that is late by [>=] 5 minutes can make a hurry call that speeds up the change even further"

The number one 'bus issue' with students at the Eastbourne site - Sussex College is the Stagecoach No 51 bus service. Now only every hour and what students want is every 30 mins at start and end of the college day . Take note @eastsussexcc.bsky.social

Good to see that the latest edition of #Eastbourne Herald has a very prominent article about the impacts of #ClimateChange, especially on #FoodSecurity & #flooding risks. Big need to raise awareness about such issues now that our town is getting more frequent & intense floods, droughts, & heatwaves.

We held a workshop last Saturday at Rooted Community Food on how #Eastbourne community food growers are adapting to #ClimateChange impacts. Fab insights shared about keyhole gardens, wicking beds, natural pest controls. Big thanks to Blue Heart Project & @efp-official.bsky.social for their support.

This is why with LTNs we need to agree a definition. Here in
Daily Telegraph they are using any road you cannot drive through. So mostly how towns have been built up over the centuries.

The data from #Stagecoach , yesterday, showed 50% of all the delays across the whole county were down to congestion in #Eastbourne. It cannot go on

Only skim read the article ( searched for 'seasons' and 'winter' without success) but this profile below is about right for a UK house. There are times in winter that in UK solar is incredibly poor. In contrast in summer it can export large amounts. Would need to import from Africa ?

Two of our members have just graduated from the Local Climate Academy run by @climateemergencyuk.bsky.social, empowering them to collaborate better with @eastbournebc.bsky.social & @eastsussexcc.bsky.social on #ClimateAction. Here's the certificate for our very own @andythegreenie.bsky.social :

Last week, at our energy advice stall in The Beacon, #Eastbourne, one of our directors, Jill Shacklock, was demonstrating the energy game she has designed to test people's awareness of how much energy various household devices consume. Highly entertaining game!

A lot of hype about how renewables ( solar and turbines) cause bird deaths. More damage to birds from oil/gas/coal.
There needs to be some perspective.🔍👓
It is mostly down to 🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛ miaaoww!!

Side effect of storm Eowyn is the power generation 0700 24/1/25. Renewables up but much of the 'possible' power is lost due to the current grid / cables

The latest round of Energy Champions training in #Eastbourne, run by Energise Sussex Coast, started yesterday at the town hall. It was fab to see one of our own volunteers, David, get really stuck into the low carbon energy game!

The 'Bus Lanes' in #Seaside finally given the go ahead. Though @eastsussexcc.bsky.social c.bsky.social have to resubmit, to #DfT, due to some further changes

Very predictable comments, from those who think, everyone needs a car for every trip. So relevant to the debate along Seaside in #Eastbourne
