No, she was betrayed by Charles VII and by some of her own men. She helped him gain his kingdom, just for him to leave her high and dry when she was sentenced to be executed. Her story is a great story of triumph, pain and faith. Even though nowadays, some people speculated that she suffered from a

both angered me with how visceral her mistreatment by the hands of her male "compatriots" and the clergy. The Messenger does romanticize her story a little bit but not to the point where it's terribly unrealistic.

There are two great ones, imo. You have The Messenger by Luc Besson from 1999 and the Passion of Joan of Arc from 1928. I don't know if you like silent films but the Passion of Joan of Arc is a beautiful, haunting film that I watched once and will never watch again. Same with the Messenger. They
