Insightful #book regarding #academic and practical #security studies, for those so inclined. O’Brien addresses the complexity of war and power missed when one-dimensional analysis seems to be the only method pundits, wonks, and policy makers have in their quiver. Recommend!

Glorious, if a bit blustery hike at Devils Punch Bowl yesterday. Trail was well maintained, and the area seems to be recovering from fires last year.

Can’t think of a better way to spend September 1st than reading about work and the Information Age! #LaborDay is one of the more important memorializations for us, especially in this time with such extreme imbalance between wealth and work!

Beautiful Day in Arlington today. Distracting from the politics of the moment, visited the reopened Air Force Monument.

Curious and insightful read - Rocky was an Air Corps communications officer who captured the southwest pacific air war in WW2. Pithy observations, characterizing the mundane to the strategic. Gem of a #history. Maybe we can take a lesson in ACE from it!

Crooked Beech Brewing in Loveland Colorado is a great community spot, serving a range of beers (alcoholic and non-alcoholic selections), and offering a family-friendly (and dog friendly) space! Also run by some of our best friends in the world!

Finished up this little gem #BookSky - Joan Didion’s observations of the Deep South (Mississippi and Alabama). Pithy and illuminating as a set of notes along the gulf coast, wrapping up in California. Fun, thoughtful read! #books

New feeder is a big #birds! Party!

Since Mary and I both turn 50 this year, we celebrated with the purchase of #bird feeders. The one on the left is the “Squirrel Buster 2000” - mitigating the varmint scourge of the birdseed industry.

Still - for the entertainment ROI - better than Netflix! #borbs #birbs #birds

On a lark (npi) we picked up a bird feeder over the holidays. And it has not disappointed in the varied species that are sampling of the suet. Mr. Cardinal is a bit of a d1ck - but he leaves long enough for others to jump on the feeder. A pecking (npi) order does manifest itself daily.

Spent Friday evening walking around the US Mall. Stopped by the FDR monument and couldn’t get over how much progress was made out of the Great Depression.

So much more progress to be made! While times look bleak, we have to stay positive!
