Usually I start cleaning in the living room and run out of steam before getting to the kids’ room… today I started cleaning in the kids’ room and after I finished they both went in and fine tuned my work :)

Now that all the christmas stuff is finally packed away I can finally have space enough to tidy. One hour of putting stuff away in 30 min.

The post holiday COVID (and RSV) spikes are happening now… and the common cold (rhinovirus) is in decline… so please test if you are sick… the chances of it being “just a cold” are lessening now.

Merry Christmas! The piles are bigger than I intended lol… I did a lot of self care shopping in the past two weeks. The kids were so happy with everything they got :) In their piles are hand-me-downs, thrifted gifts, handmade gifts, and some new gifts too. I really like gifting second hand stuff.

I need to shout out Logic of English… we are two years into the learn to read quest and are still struggling… but in 3 weeks of LOE the kids now look forward to their reading lessons… next week we get to play phonogram baseball!! Even I’m excited about this!!! #homeschool #secularhomeschool

Forest school is so freaking expensive, and it prevents us from doing many other things. But it just feels so essential. Especially on a beautiful day like this. Loving nature and being outdoors in all weather; that’s why I send my kids to forest school. #homeschool #secularhomeschool

First snow of the season! I think even if I sent my kids to school I’d still let them stay home on the first day of snow :) I think maybe there won’t be time for formal lessons today :) #secularhomeschool #homeschool

Pancakes and snow. One of my favorite combos!
Unfortunately the pancakes smelled weird (wfpb oatmeal banana pancakes) I worry that the Green Pan nonstick skillet leaked nastiness on to them. It’s tough cooking without oil and yet I very much prefer being oil free.

I just LOVE family game night! We started maybe two months ago… totally random, one of the kids set it up. Now it’s pirogies and games every Monday night (Sundays in December.) Tonight we played Herding Cats. So much fun and perfect for 8 year olds and adults.

We started a new reading program this week. Logic of English. I really wanted to love All About Reading but it just wasn’t working for my kids. Please cross your fingers for us! #secularhomeschool

Shhhhh, don’t tell them. These are the start of my winter solstice gifts to the kids I teach at the Waldorf program :) I hope they love them!! My mom is doing the knitting and I’m going to paint hats. Might even make little pouches for them out of old sweaters.
