The idea for the actual story was that Max, the kid from the book, is off to college in the fall, and is having are hard time accepting that. He ends up back on the island he visited so long ago, and starts a new adventure to get back home.

For context the initial assignment the comic was based off of was for a branded entertainment deal, and I kinda randomly went with a cross between Bluesky and “Where the Wild Things Are”.

The lighting makes this shot look so surreal! Awesome work!
