Kelly, congratulations on winning the Ringo Award for Best Writer! Absolute Wonder Woman is a brilliant masterpiece and easily one of the best titles we’ve had in years! You’ve elevated Diana in a way that few writers have managed to do in all these decades.

This is on me, I didn’t express myself the right way. I completely understand why it might have come across differently, and I can’t fault Kelly for that. I just feel sad because it truly wasn’t, and would never be, my intention.

Anyway, I wish you all the best, you’re still one of the best writers out there, and I’ll keep rooting for you to take on characters like Psylocke

It’s okay, Kelly, this isn’t the first time I haven’t been 100% happy with a title. That’s part of it, right? But this whole discussion helped me realize I need to express myself in a better way, and I never wanted you to see what I said in that light.

The whole ‘colorful daycare center’ thing was just the Brazilian way of saying that, to me, everything felt way too happy and cheerful — which, in my view, doesn’t really fit the title. PLEASE don’t take that as an insult, because it’s not. I should have expressed myself better.

Again, that doesn’t mean I don’t respect your work, and even less that I ever rooted for its cancellation. I apologize again if the way I expressed myself sounded aggressive — I still admire you and will keep following your work, even if I wasn’t satisfied with this ONE run.

For me, Birds of Prey has always been much darker and more investigative in nature, and that got lost this time. I feel like it became much more ‘happy’ and had way more characters than the title really calls for.

No. What I said was that it was the worst RUN of the title so far, and even then it was still one of the series I most enjoyed following. You are a brilliant, award-winning writer, and I would never question your writing ability. I ONLY didn’t like the direction.

Honestly, I’m sad that she interpreted anything I wrote as an attack. I’m not American, so maybe my way of expressing myself comes off as ‘too much’ to others, but it was never my intention to offend anyone. I would never be happy to see a title being canceled. :/
