Elstree & Borehamwood Museum
@ebwmuseumherts.bsky.social
Our museum tells the story of Elstree and Borehamwood, through exhibitions, events and learning programmes. Supported by Hertsmere Borough Council. Become a Friend.
We are featuring this particular party because we have just received this photo from Trevor Goody - now living in Perthshire - enjoying his day with friends in Bullhead Road. Thanks to Trevor for his photo - maybe you have a personal memory of your VE Day?

Indeed some of our volunteers at the Museum remember the parties and talk about them. Here is a photo of the Bullhead Road party where the cameraman must be on a tall ladder.

Maybe you have some knowledge of it? And why was it called 'Suicide Corner' when it was a roundabout?

But no-one could remember it. We have now traced it on a 1913 map to an old Beer House near the Brick Works on Elstree Road on the rise up Brockley Hill. The building was still there in this 1939 photo, but no longer a pub. Now it's under the M1.
