We’re on the Zooniverse platform, looking at Eclipsing Binary star candidates! https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/vbkostov/eclipsing-binary-patrol
🚨Terrible pun alert: Fur-midable Candidate! 🚨 Spotted on Talk: a lightcurve with cat ears!🐱 Our sharp-eyed moderator
@cosmosbg.bsky.social also noticed periodic dips, suggesting a potential new eclipsing binary candidate.
As our teammate Marco says, maybe there are space kittens out there! 🐈

2/2:In eccentric EBs, the primary-to-secondary separation varies based on our viewing angle of the ellipse. This makes their lightcurves more intricate- the trigonometry behind it all is truly interesting! Shout to this tool midnightkite.com/index.aspx?U... Shared by@davideiannone.bsky.social

Happy 2025 from the Eclipsing Binary Patrol team! ✨
Thank you to everyone who continued classifying over the holidays. You identified a fascinating candidate: a possible new eclipsing binary—maybe even a heartbeat star! Here’s to a year with yet more discoveries! 🚀

Human Eyes 1 x Model 0!
A great example of why we need YOUR help to check the data! Look closely at the light curve, and you’ll spot small regular eclipses just right of the green bands. This is an EB with synchronized baseline modulations and the period needs recalculating
