On way to conference sessions in Berlin walked through Bebelplatz. There's a plaque reminding us this is where the Nazi burned books containing scientific and scholarly knowledge they didn't agree with. I wish this was not relevant to our contemporary situation.

In one class this week I will be talking about the weird, weird world of US direct-to-consumer pharma ads for my UK students. Such an accepted background part of US life to have the tv shouting stats and happy patients at us, but to folks from elsewhere they are just utterly insane.

Work at home day meant a lovely breakfast at my fave local cafe over lecture plan and now a brief sit down in the park. Gotta rebuild my calm before diving back in

Have been quiet on the birdie app for a while in prep for leaving it. But yeah, definitely closing that account out now, and hoping that (once my marking is done!) I'll be back to enjoying this lovely place.

I have 3 other lovely pens in my pen case today, all of them pricier, but the one that appeals this morning is my trusty Platinum Prefounte. First fountain pen I bought, still going very strong at least 3 years later, worth many times the £8 I paid for it! #fountainpens#cheapthrills
