I've started blocking of time with different configurations of lab members to advance some of our papers and we work in a shared document. Just sat down for a session to work on one of our affect development papers. Coming back to gems like this makes me LOL.

Yeaaaahhh, I presume they don't want to hear that this is a dumb move that will put people's and animal's lives at risk and make us less healthy.

I'm always thankful to get word of funding for my group, but given [waves hands at chaos], I am even more thankful than usual for this particular NOA. Waiting on one more and then I will wager that my lab should be okay for a little bit.

Very excited to continue our work on aging trajectories!

A new role at work has me reading the entire Animal Welfare Act as well as the USDA Animal Welfare Inspector Guide.

TIL that people use race gerbils and hamsters.

Huh... 8 years (2012-2020) of NIH funding is pretty different from 20 years.

There's a definite "the Regents made this choice" vibe in these messages which I missed last night while reading @meganakpeters.bsky.social's post.

So, we could, elect new Regents, yes?

But also, wtaf advanced compliance... def not how you fight fascism.

This is absolutely 🦇💩 crazy.

Cruz and his anti-woke mafia are apparently so well trained in research methods, and therefore so well suited to evaluate what is and isn't robust science, that they named their database like one of my undergrads who hasn't gotten to our "here's how to name appropriate versions of files" training.

Always good to be reminded of how much work there is to be done simply ensuring people understand the value of science.

Thanks @nicolecrust.bsky.social for the pin!

The F31 PA to promote diversity is still posted - we assume this will be killed off too, right?
January 23, 2025 at 4:43 AM
Second hit for "diversity supplements" - time to pivot those.
January 23, 2025 at 4:37 AM
I've got folks working on diversity supplements and if you google "NIH Diversity Supplement" this was the first hit.
