tbh I've never played castlevania lords of shadow but I've heard it's quite ass

At least metroid dread was good, still not perfect obviously but one of the few actually good gamey ass games from modern Nintendoom

Also it's worth keeping in mind this attitude is mostly for AAA games and games from more well-known indie creators with big marketing budgets and/or word of mouth discussion. There are lots of hidden gems out there that sadly never had a moment in the spotlight as such.

If a "new best game of all time" is forgotten about in two months, it probably wasn't all that, but the ones that are still talked about 2-3 or more years from now? They might actually have something going on.

If anything when I play newer games I can feel more FOMO because I think about older and let's be honest probably better stuff I could be playing instead.
