The art vs the artist’s hand

Here’s a blade I almost finished this Summer. I’ve been having fun figuring out how to finish it in my home shop (which is not equipped for blade smithing).
A rough forged knife blade blank lies on a pile of coal. The blank glows red orange as it cools, the tang already dim. Forged knife blank with the outline of a santoku-esque blade drawn on with sharpie. A handle template rests under the tang. A ruler to the right shows that the whole thing will be just shy of 12 inches with a roughly 6-inch cutting edge. A forged and profiled knife blade, santoku-ish in shape, lies on a bed of coal. A hand cradling a kitchen knife blade with a forge finish. The blade has no handle, but the bevels are ground shiny.

Post the first video game you ever played

My profile promises blacksmithing content, so here’s some pics of the knife I made this summer (my first bladesmithing project). It’s oxidized a bit, had the point bent, and gotten scuffed on the sharpening stone (gotta get better at that), but it’s being cared for (oiled & waxed) and used!
