Absolutely. Who else is old enough to remember Shelby County v Holder when Chief Justice Roberts scoffed at VRA Section 5 and lectured us” how the facts had changed” and racial gerrymandering had “no logical relation to the present day.”

He owns this.
Opinion in Shelby v Holder where Chief Justice Robertd says "instead reenacted a formula based on 40-year-old facts having no logical relation to the present day." He went on to blast "the irrationality of continued reliance on the §4 coverage formula," insisting that "regardless of how to look at the record . . . no one can fairly say that it shows anything approaching the 'pervasive,' 'flagrant,' 'widespread,' and 'rampant' discrimination that faced Congress in 1965."
