Really enjoying series 31 of @Masterchef-UK. I know the programme has had it problems but seeing the contestants grow is a delight! I smile all the way through. @bbc please keep making this programme!

#VJDay #Peace #FightFascism When soldiers returned from Japan they were ignored. No celebration, no recognition. I’m very sad to think of that lovely man who couldn’t cope with loud bangs & never really recovered. Now, after fighting fascism our beautiful flags are misused by #Far-Right groups.

While remembering VJ Day I’d like to mention my father’s friend, Leslie Dunderdale. I met Leslie & his lovely wife 25 yrs after the war & found a kind man scarred by his time as a Japanese POW. With eyes sunk in his head, nerves shot, dinner took ages as he slowly savoured each mouthful. RIP Leslie.
