Busy rose garden. Pictured here is Pearly Gates climber and Maurice Utrillo. Both have little to no fragrance but stunning blooms and easy, healthy habits.

Pictured is my floribunda “Hot Cocoa” #rose bred by Tom Carruth. Winner of the 2003 All-America Rose Selections award. This rose is vigorous, draught tolerant, 4ft tall in Zone 9b. Medium fragrance but that lovely cup shape is amazing. Blooms are best enjoyed on the bush.

Went to the 54th annual #daffodil show at Alden Lane Nursery in Livermore. Such a beautiful display of the various sizes, forms and colors that daffodils can have. #bloomscrolling #gardenerlovers

Under the weather myself but the sun is out and peach blossoms simply must be documented in all their pink glory. #bloomscrolling #peachtree #suburbanorchard

Some coffee to fuel the next few beautiful hours of sunshine and applying mint compost to my roses. I’m listening to the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells (2018 Hugo & 2018 Nebula award winner for best novella).

I have a handful of #roses left to prune and I’m preparing some compost for application as I see new little leaves emerging. Here is my favorite rose bouquet from 2024 to hold us all over until the first flush. What’s a beloved rose variety in your garden?

Had a phenomenal wine (and dinner) last Diwali.

My first ever bloom on Princess Alexandra of Kent (an #englishrose bred by David Austin). Love the endless layers of purple-pink petals with just a little dot of yellow pistol visible. #roselover #bloomscrolling

It’s #rose pruning time in the #SF Bay Area and I found some lingering winter buds to bring inside and arrange by my desk. Pictured is here is Hot Cocoa, David Austin’s Princess Alexandra of Kent and Lyda Rose (bred by Kleine Lettunich).
