As sun-like #stars swell into red giants, they can engulf nearby worlds. A new study of nearly 500,000 red giants shows these stars have far fewer close-in exoplanets than other stars. In other words: many of those planets may have already been destroyed!

Our #solarsystem was thought to be moving at about 515,000 mph (828,000 kph) through space, as it orbits the center of our Milky Way galaxy. A new study from researchers in Germany suggests our solar system is moving more than three times faster than that. 🫨
