Hey and hallo! I’m a Canadian clay person from the smack dab middle of Canada. I use soft slabs to create forms without hard lines. My glazing style is both precise and loose, playing with the idea of opposites.

Dear @bsky.app, don’t let me down.
Contrast. Opposite ideas. Maybe if you listen to the other side you’ll discover a new way of seeing…. And creating!

These pots are heading to @afairamountocolour.bsky.social this week- see then Thursday if you mom be at NCECA 👀

Always measure the kiln!!! lol close fit. I actually had to bisque it in a bigger kiln lol.

Fingers and toes crossed this one will survive.

How’s everyone else Monday going?

I started to push out the bottoms of my slab built mugs and cups two years ago.

When you slab build, the wall of your piece meets the floor at 90 degrees. This never sat well with me as I wanted to make forms that were softer.

And a spoon fits nicely inside if you need to stir.

My small kiln is hooked up and on! I haven’t had a kiln since I moved studios in July of last year so to say I feel l good is an understatement.

I’m so happy!!!!! Thanks Max.

dog, cat, stack o bowls.

The vibe is weird and scary,
yet the animals are cute and hairy.

Also I can’t stop making things because the world is falling apart. I love/hate that. Anyone else?

Mike makes great pots using leftover clay/glaze materials that other potters give to him. He is a pottery chemistry wizard and is giving with his knowledge.

His pots are straightforward with a twist, which sets them apart. A Manitoba gem, give him a follow.

This mug was part of a limited edition made a couple years back.

It features a line drawing of a dandelion which I glazed with a drippy green and yellow glaze on a pink background, gold lustre on the head of the dandelion.

These were some of my favourite pieces. Thank you for sharing!
I was actually looking through my camera roll the other day, and I came across this photo of the mug I have from you! It's funny though, while I adore your mug, I do use the sipper quite a bit. I'll need to snag a photo of it once it's unpacked.

‘Afternoon Tea With Sleepy Dog’

This is a mug o mine that has a chip in the foot so I kept it. Always a good idea to drink out of things you are selling for others to drink out of.

They took all this information away.Terrifying that this is happening. It’s just the beginning.

The origins of the #NCECApopup I started. I think functional ceramic pots are best ‘seen’ when you can pick up the work.

There are fewer opportunities in Canada. While the US is the US, they do have the population to support appreciation of unique pottery. Thus I travel to #NCECA, which is in USA
A Fair Amount Of Colour saw its first year in 2023!

Started by Canadian ceramic artist @earthshaper-studio.bsky.social who just wanted folks to pick up her pots, she asked her pal @hawthornceramics.bsky.social to join the event. They made it a party with @kirstykash.bsky.social.

I can’t believe all the new-to-me clay people I am finding on here! Love this work by @megslevesseurclay.bsky.social

More in comments about Bluesky vs IG and the IG algorithm takes away your uniqueness. (I think, please correct / enlighten me)

Are you the kind of artist who sits there for days thinking about something and then finally does it, or are you the kind of artist who really doesn’t think about it but just dives in and does it? Guess what kind of artist Tilly is. 🙃

Life hack: all you need is a solid 12 hour sleep a night in a squishy bed to get your creative juices flowin’. *Note all your other responsibilities will suffer.

Thanks @laurawilliamsstudio.com for this stop-motion-type video idea. 😃
