Before I knew I was AuDHD I always used to say it felt like I went through life with the handbrake half on. I knew a lot more than I realised!

So I guess we often miss out on a lot of unplanned, random great stuff happening to us. But not always. If the environment is OK and we’re with people we know and feel safe with, it can happen just the same for us.

I think for a lot of autistic folks it’s having that autonomy and / or awareness of what to expect. Because something unstructured and unpredictable is more likely to overwhelm us than not.

It might seem odd to some that I’d feel more comfortable in a bar / club etc behind the decks than anywhere else, but it’s easier for me. I know what I’m doing, I have a purpose being there and I have a sort of structure to the evening. That’s how it feels, whereas socialising otherwise…

Also I think the world probably doesn’t need as many DJs in my particular area as there are. Also I’m not sure there’s actually much of an audience anymore for what I like to play. So do I go left and find a different niche? Yes I’m overthinking it, that’s what a lot of autistic people do.

I’m not very body confident at all but I do have a zero tolerance policy on body shaming in any context. It seems to be one of those things that so often go unchallenged, like ageism or indeed ableism towards autistic people. Or increasingly a lot of other bigotry in recent times, sadly. 😕

Just reading about that, sounds awful, multiple stabbings, train stopped at Huntingdon, two guys arrested…
