That's why there's a Council of Colours with people on it who know Magic design intimately, and it isn't governed by social media comments sections. Smothering Tithe is a bend because it gives the illusion of choice regarding its very White tax effect, not because it's secretly a Red card.

Via damage yes, but taxation is firmly in White's share of the pie. Smothering Tithe is in no world a red card.

I have one dedicated lands combo deck for high B3 and one artifact deck that has a combo finish also for fairly high B3. Both have some tutors but none that can find any piece unconditionally. Sometimes you want to play with a Rube Goldberg machine and try and mad scientist your way to a win.

Combo in untrusted play ia frustrating as it's on the combo player to announce their intentions to the rest of the pod, who may be less experienced and assess threats poorly. Combo in a trusted pod is cool and can lead to interesting points of tension compared to the usual midrange Mexican Standoff.

Commander is so loved because it's the format of creativity and expression, and your ability to be creative decreases as your options increase.

Oh and I'm in favour of hybrid mana staying as it is – the colour identity rules are great because they are restrictive, and restrictions are good! Mono-colour decks are cool as hell because of the things that colour can't do; being able to put GW Rhys in a green deck would feel like a cop-out.

Otherwise I really liked the game changer list updates and the bracket focusing! Looking forward to more communication and tweaks in future :)

I'd also like to give feedback on the mention of average game length for B2/B3 – the wording is quite confusing, so many people think you've actually lowered the average expected game length by one.

I'd push back quite heavily on Rhystic Study being iconic and fun to play against in casual games; citing the memes as a factor in it staying unbanned is really weird honestly. We meme on it because it's generally disliked and because that's all we can do if it's legal!

They worded it very poorly honestly, but it doesn't mean a turn 6 win, it means everyone plays six turns out, i.e. a turn 7 win.
