Season 1 is about the lives of enslaved people from Assyria to the 20th century: war captives from Elam, Thracian mine overseers, Mamluk sultans, and the last survivor of the Atlantic slave trade. Season 2 is people we know from their mummies, bones, or DNA, and how we can reconstruct their lives.
