Yesterday I took a city bus from Aachen across an international boundary, then got on another city bus to a nature park on a mountain for FIVE FREAKING EUROS.

At home, in Boston, it takes 7 dollars to ride a train a few miles within city limits.

What the hell is wrong with us?

Paper lids for paper cups in Aachen. Sure would like to see these in the US. Reusable would be better, of course, but still a huge improvement.

Hanging out in a very cool, queer friendly thrift store in Aachen, hoping to find a particular recording of Das Lied Von der Erde, but found this oddity of German pop music delectation instead.

A solid pass for me.

Here is an image I cleaned up for my archeologist gf. An owl at a perirrhanterion. She studies the latter. I simply love the image.

I don't know it's provenance, but will ask if anyone wants to know.

My first ever attempt at chili last night.

What took me so long? It’s delicious!

Psyched for leftovers.

Panoramic image on Boston Common as the No Kings rally begins. The crowd in not dense but folks are still pouring in.

Away from our american nightmare for a few minutes and voila, the last garden tomato salad of the season.

I promise to listen to Phil Ochs while eating it.

First bowl of tomatoes from my tiny organic garden in Boston.

Am more excited than seems appropriate.

Dear leader should definitely not be deporting makeup artists—or anyone else without due process, but especially not makeup artists.

Does he put this stuff on himself or something?

And what is it?

Mayonnaise and turmeric maybe?

Gah!

House cats love microgreens. And sitting on my chest, batting at the phone while posting this. Hopefully this little picket fence keeps them out of the seedlings!

Definitely having feelings of pitchfork inadequacy.

The addendum to Jack Smith's report Vol. 1 is my favorite part so far. It comprises two letters—one rebuttal from Todd Blanche and a rebuttal rebuttal from Jack Smith.

As a non-lawyer, even I can tell that the Blanche letters arguments are booooogus.

A map of holiday shopping traffic congestion in metro Boston.

Looks like a heart attack in progress. Prolly mostly single-occupant vehicles.

Nice! A little jealous! Have never had success with indoor citrus. Do now have a few aloes blooming though. Here is the spathe of an aloe somethingorotheri. Not a great pic, but fun to have color this time of year in Boston.

Gingerbread creatures reassert themselves on wrapping paper. Not worried about them taking over the domicile because cats. Meant to show them being gravitationally challenged. Not sure it worked but, okay, wrapping paper!

Already missing the nutrition from my tiny organic garden

Only 20 feet (6 m) square, but I get a whole lot of super fresh food from it in the growing season. And, so do the rabbits, deer, turkeys, squirrels, worms, butterflies and all the other insects. I hope I didn't leave anyone out!

A small stage in a new bookstore

JustBook-ish has opened with a small theatrical media system I designed in support of "performance and agency."

The grand opening is on November 23.
