Journalism is only activism for people like you when it seeks to address asymmetries between the powerful and the powerless.

You act as if your journalism- journalism that perpetuates a political status quo by presenting a normative bias towards liberal democracy, is not activism too.

few, mostly white and middle class, did well, it has continued in that vein ever since, and neither Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Hilary Clinton or Kamala Harris ever had any intention of changing that. And, all Trump will do, is keep the show on the road.

Without, what are known in 🇮🇪 as the ev grants, taxi driver ev purchases would go off a cliff. They currently give €20k to taxis here. It’s the only thing driving sales of ev’s to cabbies.

If companies wanted to maintain sales, they would have to drop the price dramatically. No question.

The idea that we will address the impending climate catastrophe with renewable solutions is bolloxology.

We don’t need green consumerism, we need less consumerism. Everyone knows this, we just aren’t going to do it, so we’ll pretend we’re doing something by buying EV’s and installing solar panels.

Capitalism relies on you getting sick regularly-

“However, retail sales remain a pain point, with comparable sales declining 4.6% in Q1, attributed to a weaker cold and flu season and persistent pressure on consumer discretionary spending.”

Workplaces are hierarchical. The behaviour of the lowest paid workers is a product of the culture fostered by the highest paid.

So, if the 🍔 you buy at a fast food restaurant is sh1t, it’s because the owner doesn’t give a fu*k about customers, not because the minimum wage staff are paid 2 much.

The Jungle was a critique of laissez faire capitalism. The fact America got food regulations and nothing more, says everything about what Roosevelt felt about Sinclair’s book. He had to do something, and it was never going to be the tackling of the exploitation of the working class.
